Georgia Tech High School Mathematics Competition History Since 1958, Georgia Tech's School of Math has invited high school students to compete both on individual and team events for pride and prizes. After a hiatus, the competition was revitalized in 2004, and in recent years 300 to 400 students have attended the events every Spring at the Institute's campus in midtown Atlanta. The competition's exams cover algebra, geometry, combinatorics, number theory, and basic calculus.

The School of Mathematics regularly takes part in the Putnam Exam, an activity managed by Galyna Livshyts and John McCuan. MATH 4802 is taught each fall semester as a preparation for the exam. This is a nationwide exam with about 4000 students participating. The problems are really difficult and the median score is zero.

Club Math Club Math is a social organization for students at Georgia Tech with an interest in mathematics. We meet weekly to discuss problems and puzzles, play games, and learn about interesting topics beyond the scope of what is taught in the classroom. Throughout the coming semester, we plan on expanding our catalog of activities to include crafts such as mathematical knitting and origami, talks organized and presented by Club Math students, and occasional events such as movie nights.

The Georgia Tech School of Mathematics welcomes hundreds of high school students to attend our annual High School Math Competition, a day-long event featuring several different mathematics exams. The competition covers a wide range of high school math topics, including algebra, Euclidean geometry, combinatorics, number theory, and basic calculus. Schools from any state are welcome to compete. A school may register up to five teams with up to five contestants per team.
